Karine LACOMBE
Karine Lacombe is an infectious diseases specialist whose clinical practice, teaching and research focus on viral infections. Professor Lacombe is head of the infectious diseases department at the Saint-Antoine Hospital, AP-HP, Paris.
She is one of the international leaders on HIV-hepatitis coinfection and has given plenary lectures at all international conferences on infectious diseases. Since March 2020, she has been heavily involved as a clinician and researcher but also at the political level in the management of the Covid-19 crisis.
Her recent publications include Phase 2 and 3 clinical trial results in HIV, chronic hepatitis and SARS-CoV2.
Karine Lacombe graduated from the Pierre and Marie Curie University of Medicine in Paris and completed her internship and clinical training at the Saint-Antoine Hospital in Paris and the Saint-André Hospital in Bordeaux. In 2006, she obtained her PhD in epidemiology on HIV/hepatitis B co-infection and determinants of liver fibrosis. She became an associate professor in infectious diseases in 2007. She has been a full professor at the Sorbonne since 2016.
